Why Lore

Walk more without noticing.

You’ll walk thousands of extra steps a week, because you want to know who did it. Lore is a game first. The walking just happens.

Each night, the map of your city is covered in fog. Walk, and it clears street by street. Walk far enough and the next clue appears.

How the week works

A new case
every Monday — free.

Each case lasts a week. About two new clues appear every night on the streets around you. On night 7, you name the killer.

  1. Night 01

    The case opens.

Monday. A body, a case file, the suspects.

  2. Night 02

    First clues.

Walk, and the first clues appear on your map.

  3. Night 03

    Meet the suspects.

    Read the suspects’ files.

  4. Night 04

    Question suspects.

Interrogate suspects by voice. They answer.

  5. Night 05

    Gather evidence.

Every clue goes into your case file.

  6. Night 06

    Final clues.

The last clues. Walk a little further.

  7. Night 07

    Name the killer.

Accusations open. Case closed, or wrong suspect.

    Verdict

Walking, for your health

Healthy, without the workout.

Walking is one of the simplest things you can do for your health. Lore just gives you a reason to do it tonight, and again tomorrow.

  • No guilt.

Miss a night and the case waits for you. No streak shaming, no red badges, no disappointed mascot.

  • No cheerleading.

No confetti, no emoji, nobody telling you you’re crushing it. A narrator tells you what you found. That’s enough.

  • Every step counts.

The dog walk, the commute, the long way home. Lore counts steps, not speed, so a slow walk moves the story as much as a fast one.

  • Steps, and nothing else.

From Apple Health, Lore reads one thing: your step count.

The map

Every step
uncovers a clue.

Lore uses a real map of your city. Streets you haven’t walked are hidden in fog. Walk them and they light up for good. Walk far enough and a new clue appears.

Your case file

Read the clues.
Question suspects.

Every clue you find goes into your case file (the Dossier), along with the victim and the suspects. Got questions? Ask the suspects out loud. They answer.
